A faction within the Bangladesh Army, led by Lt General Faizur Rahman, is attempting to replace the current army chief, Gen Waqar-uz-Zaman. Rahman convened a meeting to gauge support for a coup but received limited attendance. Military intelligence is now monitoring him, and political instability may worsen. Several senior army officers are implicated in the conspiracy.
