Videocon Industries (VIL) and Videocon Telecommunication (VTL), the two main group companies, owe lenders, led by State Bank of India (SBI), Rs 59,451.87 crore and Rs 26,673.81 crore, respectively, which adds up to a whopping Rs 86,125.68 crore.
VIL owes 54 creditors, with SBI's claim the highest at Rs 11,175.25 crore. Meanwhile, VTL owes 34 lenders, the biggest again being SBI at Rs 4,605 crore.
Apart from banks, 731 other operational creditors have made claims worth Rs 3,111.80 crore to VIL and Rs 1,267 crore VTL. This drives the total sum over Rs 90,000 crore, the sources said.
The group promoters -- Venugopal, Pradipkumar and Rajkumar Dhoot -- have filed separate claims of Rs 57,823.24 crore for personal guarantees they provided to VIL for various facilities availed. These are under evaluation. VTL has claimed Rs 1,786.95 crore from VIL.
After the introduction of Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC) in India, this will be the biggest private sector bankruptcy in India and it may have a wide-ranging impact on the corporate and banking sector.
The company was sent to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in 2018 by SBI after the Dhoots defaulted on their loans. The board of directors of the company has been suspended and a resolution professional (RP) has been appointed to run the company's daily operations.

Earlier this year, the CBI had charged ICICI Bank Managing Director and CEO Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar and Venugopal Dhoot, in a loan scam, criminal conspiracy and cheating. Kochhar quit from her position and the bank appointed a new COO, Sandeep Bakshi.

WhatsApp allows users to control who can add them to group chats . Updated: 03 Apr 2019, 05:24 PM IST livemint

Over 200 million people in India currently use WhatsApp. (Bloomberg)
New Delhi: WhatsApp on Wednesday announced a major change in its privacy settings, allowing users to decide who can add them to groups. Previously, any user could be added to a WhatsApp group without their consent.
Over 200 million people in India currently use WhatsApp.
“WhatsApp groups continue to connect family, friends, coworkers, classmates and more. As people turn to groups for important conversations, users have asked for more control over their experience. Today, we're introducing a new privacy setting and invite system to help you decide who can add you to groups," WhatsApp said in a blog post.
Users can enable the privacy setting choice by going to account, and then privacy and group and select one of the three options — Nobody, My Contacts, or Everyone. 'Nobody’ signifies that anyone can add that user to any group, In case of ‘My Contacts’, only people in the user's address book can his/her to groups. In those cases, the person inviting the user to a group will be prompted to send a private invite through an individual chat, giving him/her the choice of joining the group. The invite will expire in three days.

HFCL :-LAST HURDLE IN THE GROWTH IN COMPANY'S SHARE PRICE

All the allottees of Share Warrants (allotted in Oct 2017) have paid the balance money before March 31 2019 except Mr.Shankar Sharma who was also allotted 1,00,00,000 warrants. He as per law may pay by April 30 2019 to extract the maximum benefit.By that time operations of HFCL Telangana plant may get started for the manufacture of Optic Fibre (Backward Integration move).

The day Mr.Shankar Sharma opts for balance payment coupled with start of new manufacturing unit the share price may start moving upwards for the benefits of large number of Retail Investors who are waiting for the last ten years to see their investment growing but all in vain.

Even if after all these happenings the price does not move or remain suppressed then it means there is some serious trouble with the company which needs to be investigated specially for manufacturing products just for the benefit of one major buyer ( I will not name at this point ) and keeping a very nominal profit margin for the HFCL itself which is detrimental to the interest of all the retail investors of the Company.

Dear friends I will wait till May 15 2019 and after that???????

Chinese woman arrested at Trump's resort for carrying thumb drive with malware

Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida

A Chinese woman who passed security checkpoints at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida carrying a thumb drive coded with "malicious" software was arrested for entering a restricted property and making false statements to officials.

What happened

Documents filed by the Secret Service in U.S. say that shortly after noon on Saturday, Yujing Zhang approached a Secret Service agent screening visitors to Mar-a-Lago seeking entrance to the club.

Zhang produced two Chinese passports displaying her photo and said she wanted to go to the pool. Secret Service officers could not initially find her name on an access list for the property.

Club member allowed entry

A club manager said that a man named Zhang was a club member, and even though Yujing Zhang did not give a clear answer as to whether the man was her father, the Secret Service affidavit says resort officials allowed her on the property on the assumption she was related to a member.

Suspicion

Resort personnel became suspicious after Zhang appeared to have trouble explaining why she was visiting Mar-a-Lago.

Zhang initially said she was there for an event staged by a group called the United Nations Chinese American Association. But resort staff found no such event was scheduled.

A receptionist then contacted Secret Service personnel who questioned Zhang and concluded she did not have "any legitimate documentation" authorizing her entry to Mar-a-Lago.

Initial examination

After detaining her, investigators found in Zhang's possession four cellphones, a laptop computer, an external hard drive device and a thumb drive. Initial examination of the thumb drive determined it contained "malicious malware.

"While the Secret Service does not determine who is permitted to enter the club, our agents and officers conduct physical screenings to ensure no prohibited items are allowed onto the property," the Secret Service said.

Arrest

A public defender representing Zhang said she was invoking her right to remain silent.

A Justice Department spokeswoman had no comment on the arrest.

South Korea to launch world's first national 5G networks The superfast communications heralded by fifth-generation wireless technology will ultimately underpin everything from toasters to telephones; from electric cars to power grids.

15

SEOUL: South Korea launches the world's first fully-fledged 5G mobile networks Friday, a transformational leap that already has superpowers sparring for control of an innovation that could potentially change the day-to-day lives of billions of people.

The superfast communications heralded by fifth-generation wireless technology will ultimately underpin everything from toasters to telephones; from electric cars to power grids.

But while the South has won the race to be first to to provide the user experience, that is only one part of a wider battle that has pit the United States against China and ensnared giants including Huawei.

Hyper-wired South Korea has long had a reputation for technical prowess, and Seoul has made the 5G rollout a priority as it seeks to stimulate stuttering economic growth.

The system will bring smartphones near-instantaneous connectivity -- 20 times faster than the existing 4G -- allowing users to download entire movies in less than a second.

In the same way that 3G enabled widespread mobile web access and 4G made new applications work ranging from social media to Uber, 5G will herald a new level of connectivity, empowered by speed. It is crucial for the future development of devices ranging from self-driving vehicles that send data traffic to one another in real time, industrial robots, drones and other elements of the Internet of Things.

That makes it a vital part of the infrastructure of tomorrow, and the 5G standard is expected to bring about $565 billion in global economic benefits by 2034, according to the London-based Global System for Mobile Communications, an industry alliance.

But the implication have pitted Washington against Beijing in an increasingly bitter standoff.

The US has pressed its allies and major economies to avoid 5G solutions from Chinese-owned telecom giant Huawei, citing security risks that technological backdoors could give Beijing access to 5G-connected utilities and other components.

But Chinese firms dominate 5G technology.

Huawei, the global leader, has registered 1,529 5G patents, according to data analysis firm IPlytics.

Combined with manufacturers ZTE and Oppo, plus the China Academy of Telecommunications Technology, Chinese entities own a total of 3,400 patents, it says -- more than a third of the total.

South Korea comes next, with its companies holding 2,051 patents.

In contrast, US firms have 1,368 altogether, IPlytics said -- 29 fewer than Finland's Nokia alone.

All three of South Korea's mobile networks -- KT, SK Telecom and LG UPlus go live with their 5G services. "5G's hyper speed can connect one million devices within a one square kilometre zone simultaneously," KT said in a report.

On the same day, Samsung Electronics will release the Galaxy S10 5G, the world's first available smartphone using the tech, with rival LG following with the V50s two weeks later.

More than three million South Koreans will switch to 5G by the end of this year, predicted KT vice-president Lee Pil-jae.

Until now, no mobile networks have offered nation 5G access. In the US, hotspots in a few selected cities have offered 5G speeds but over wifi only, while Qatari firm Ooredoo says it offers 5G services in and around Doha, but does not have devices available to use them.

US network carrier Verizon will launch fifth-generation services for mobile users in Chicago and Minneapolis next week, with more than 30 cities due to follow this year.

Japan is also expected to roll out a limited deployment in 2019 before full services start in time for next year's Tokyo Olympics.

But cost is likely to be a barrier for user uptake initially, analysts say: the cheapest version of the new Galaxy handset will be 1.39 million won ($1,200).

"While there are many cheap 4G smartphones under $300, Samsung's 5G phones are well over $1,000, which could be a major minus point for cost-savvy consumers," a KT representative told AFP.

None of South Korea's three network operators would say how much they have invested in 5G -- but Seoul's economy minister Hong Nam-ki put it at at least $2.6 billion this year alone.

"If 5G is fully implemented," he said, "it will greatly improve people's lives".

How come Prashant Bhushan got his hands on stolen documents from the Indian defence ministry?

Replied by Dev kumar thru Quora Digest
My understanding of this entire Rafale fiasco is this In apr 2018 Alok verma defected to Congress.
He turned rogue when turf war broke out between him and Spl Dir. Rakesh Asthana. He used his extensive contacts in Delhi police and it's not even that difficult to get documents of defence deals.
It's not The Hindu but that rogue CBI chief Alok Verma stole the documents. He, with the help of technical division in CBI tapped phones of officials in Defence Ministry, Home ministry, NSA and even some RAW & IB sleuths. All this at behest of Congress.
He tapped many officials, NSA and using his contacts got his hands on Rafale files.
The plan was to Implicate Modi, and hence he was waiting to file an FIR in the so called scam.
Once the FIR was filed, he could then implicate MoD and PMO officials and then leading up to PM.
Congress would use it to hilt to gain political mileage. He was also at the same time scuttling the extradition process of Christian michel & others. For this he was tapping phones of some RAW officials inculding that of the Dubai station chief.
Then happened the Rakesh Asthana saga...and the govt got a whiff of his designs and then decided to wash their hands off both verma and asthana
The documents he had on Rafale were given to congress & congress is running this media & legal campaign. N Ram and Prashant Bhushan are just the pawns
Edit ; Anybody who had been in south block knows , it’s not difficult to get info out . Most babus don’t know the gravity of these papers . They merely see it as tender document & specification which they are happy to share with rivals for small favours
If naval war room secrets can be found on pen drives of some defence dealer, This is a pretty small affair in comparison.

How 5G will change the future of farming By Nell Lewis, Max Burnell and Angelica Pursley, CNN Business Updated 1447 GMT (2247 HKT) April 2, 2019

How 5G will change the future of farming
London (CNN Business)5G has the potential to disrupt a huge number of industries, including one of the world's oldest: Farming.
Next-generation 5G networks can be 100 times faster than 4G, making communication between devices and servers much quicker. 5G can also carry much more data than other networks.
That makes the technology ideal for transmitting information from remote sensors and drones, key tools that are being tested by farmers. 5G is also helping to automate farming processes.
Drones that use 5G are helping to improve potato production in the Netherlands. And in Japan, 5G sensors are used to monitor the water temperature and salt concentration of oyster farms.

    5G collars

UK initiative 5G RuralFirst launched a smartphone app in March called Me+Moo, which lets farmers track a "connected" cow and receive daily updates on the animal's health and behavior.
The system, which is being tested on cows at the Agri-Epi Center in Somerset, England, is funded in part by a UK government grant and supported by the tech company Cisco (CSCO).
The cows wear 5G-connected collars that send data to the app on everything from what they're eating to how they're sleeping. Farmers can see the info instantly, and pass it on to veterinarians or nutritionists.
"This provides peace of mind that the cows are happy, healthy and behaving normally, as well as early warning if they are getting sick, are pregnant or need to be checked," said project manager Duncan Forbes.
Cows are equipped with 5G-connected collars that monitor their health and habits
5G evangelists argue that because farms cover large areas that are difficult to monitor, the agriculture sector is well placed to benefit from remote data collection.
The technology could help irrigation systems to turn on at the optimal time of day, or cattle to be grazed on areas that provide the best nutrition. By improving efficiency, it will be possible to produce more food.
Yet to make a difference, 5G will first need to be installed in rural areas.

    Automation matters

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that in order to provide for the world's rapidly rising population, the planet will need to grow 70% more food in 2050 than it did in 2009.
"To respond to those demands, farmers will need new technologies to produce more from less land, with fewer hands," reads one report from the organization.
    That's where automation comes in.
In 2017, another 5G RuralFirst project became the first in the world to successfully plant, tend and harvest a crop without a single human stepping foot in the field.
Autonomous tractors sowed the seeds, drones with sensors monitored the crops, and smaller machines took samples to assess what fertilizers and pesticides to apply and where.
The project, called Hands-Free Hectare, reported another successful harvest in 2018. It's now going even further by using 5G technology to increase precision and efficiency in crop spraying.
"This will help not only sustain farming, but also make it easier and less demanding for those doing it," Jonathan Gill, a researcher at Harper Adams University, said of the innovations.
