The story behind Qatar sentencing eight Indian ex-Navy officers to death Read more at: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/india

It's a story shrouded in utmost mystery. A Qatar court on Thursday announced death penalty for eight retired Indian Navy personnel arrested last year.

In August 30 last year, Qatar’s intelligence agency picked up the men from their homes in the dead of night. They were working for a defence services provider company, Dahra Global Technologies, in Qatar. Since then, they have been kept in solitary confinement, denied bail, and now sentenced to death. All along, the Qatari authorities did not specify the reason for the detention to the families of the eight men. Dahra Global Technologies was involved in the training of Qatari navy.

The arrest of the veterans, all working for Dahra Global Technologies, first came to light with the tweet of the sister of a former commander who was also the managing director at the firm and has been in Doha since 2013, training Qatar’s navy personnel. In November last year, Meetu Bhargava, sister of retired commander Punendu Tiwari, sought help from the government to bring her brother back. "I made a tweet on October 25 and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring back my brother who is in illegal detention in Doha, Qatar. My brother is a retired navy officer and he went there to provide training to Qatari Navy through his company Dahra Global Consultancy Services," she had told ANI.

In 2019, Tiwari was awarded the coveted Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, the highest honour conferred on overseas Indians by the Indian government, on the recommendation of the Qatari government.

Another family member discovered something was amiss when his brother, one of the arrested men, did not respond to a message greeting him on his birthday, as per a TOI story. While consular access was provided to the arrested men, the Qatari authorities never publically revealed why the officers were picked up or what charges they were being held for.

The charges against the men were not formally made public but various reports claimed they were accused of spying for Israel. It was also being speculated that their detention might have something to do with the firm’s rivalry with another firm.

Dahra Global Technologies, which employed the eight Indians, was owned by a Qatari national who too was arrested but was later released on bail, according to media reports. There was speculation in media that Qatar claimed to have intercepted electronic communication which revealed that the arrested men spied on behalf of Israel on Qatari navy's secret project of Italian midget submarines that could evade radar detection.

In December last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the Indian side was constantly in touch with the government of Qatar, as he assured the arrested Indians were a priority for the country, ANI had reported.

"This is a very sensitive case. Their interests are foremost in our minds. Ambassadors and senior officials are in constant touch with Qatar's government. We assure, they're our priority," the EAM said during his address to the Rajya Sabha.

At least 16 killed in Maine shooting and number expected to rise: Officials :-Business Standard

A man opened fire at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night, killing at least 16 people and engulfing the state's second-largest city in chaos. The suspect remained at large as authorities ordered residents and business owners to stay inside and off the streets.
Two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press dozens of people also had been wounded. The officials were not authorised to publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.
Lewiston Police said in an earlier Facebook post that they were dealing with an active shooter incident at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley about 4 miles (6,4 kilometers) away. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office released two photos of the suspect on its Facebook page that showed a gunman walking into an establishment with a weapon raised to his shoulder.
Please stay off the roads to allow emergency responders access to the hospitals, police said.
On its website, Central Maine Medical Center said staff were reacting to a mass casualty, mass shooter event and were coordinating with area hospitals to take in patients. A woman who answered the phone in the emergency department said no further information could be released and that the hospital itself was on lockdown.
Melinda Small, the owner of Legends Sports Bar and Grill, said her staff immediately locked their doors and moved all 25 customers and employees away from the doors after a customer reported hearing about the shooting at the bowling alley less than a quarter-mile away around 7 p.m. Soon, the police flooded the roadway and a police officer eventually escorted everyone out of the building four at a time. Everyone in the bar is safe.
I am honestly in a state of shock. I am blessed that my team responded quickly and everyone is safe, Small told The Associated Press. But the same time, my heart is broken for this area and for what everyone is dealing with. I just feel numb.
The alert for Lewiston was made shortly after 8 p.m. as the sheriff's office reported that law enforcement agencies were investigating two active shooter events. Officials issued an update around 10 p.m. for what they described as a manhunt.
"Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear, the statement said. Seek alternative routes to circumvent the area and any disruptions. If already operating in the affected region, adhere to all instructions issued by local officials, including the shelter-in-place order.
We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate, the sheriff's office reported.
A spokesperson for Maine Department of Public Safety urged residents to stay in their homes with their doors locked.
Law enforcement is currently investigating at two locations right now," Shannon Moss said. "Again please stay off the streets and allow law enforcement to diffuse the situation.
Gov. Janet Mills released a statement echoing those instructions. She said she has been briefed on the situation and will remain in close contact with public safety officials. The White House said President Joe Biden also had been briefed.
Lewiston, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) north of Portland, emerged as a major center for African immigration into Maine. The Somali population, which numbers in the thousands, has changed the demographics of the once overwhelmingly white mill city into one of the most diverse in northern New England.
Ange Amores, a spokesperson for the city of Lewiston, said city officials are not commenting on the shooting. Amores said Maine State Police were planning to hold a news conference, likely at city hall, to update the public on Wednesday night.
Maine Sen. Angus King, an independent, said he was deeply sad for the city of Lewiston and all those worried about their family, friends and neighbors and was monitoring the situation. King's office said the senator would be headed directly home to Maine once the Senate's final vote is held Thursday afternoon.

Sebi bars finfluencer from securities market, asks to disgorge Rs 17 cr 'Baap of Chart' gave trade recos in the garb of education courses, mislead clients, alleges Sebi :-Business Standard

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Wednesday barred financial influencer Mohammad Nasiruddin Ansari, operating with the handle 'Baap of Chart' and known as Md Nasir on social media, from accessing the securities market. Further, the market regulator has asked him to disgorge Rs 17.2 crore for indulging in unregistered investment advisory.
'Baap of Chart' has over 443,000 subscribers on YouTube and 83,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter) and has provided trading recommendations and courses.
The market regulator has alleged that Nasir has been providing trading recommendations under the 'garb of educational courses', which were charged for. It is also alleged that he was 'luring clients/investors through misleading or false information to purchase his courses/workshops'.
The Sebi investigation shows that Nasir incurred a net trading loss of Rs 2.89 crore from January 2021 to July 2023, contrary to his claims of making 20-30 per cent profits and having 95 per cent accuracy.
"Nasir, who claims to provide strategies for trading that would lead to 200-300 per cent profit or assured or near-assured returns, has actually incurred a net loss of Rs 2.89 crore through trading in securities and has concealed such facts from the investors in his videos, workshops, and groups," said Sebi.
The markets regulator has directed Nasir and two others to deposit the impounded amount in an escrow account within 15 days and is barred from diverting any funds raised from investors.
Sebi has also directed them to remove all advertisements and promotions for the courses.
While barring them from the securities market until further notice, Sebi has provided a window of three months, or until the expiry day, whichever is earlier, for squaring off open positions.
"Investors and clients were assured that upon payment of the consideration or subscription amount, Nasir will give them dedicated support or personal guidance one by one and will call them for such guidance," said Sebi.

Markets in a tailspin, leave investors poorer by Rs 15 lakh crore: Factors behind the slump In the last five sessions, investor wealth has contracted by Rs 15 lakh crore as market cap of all BSE listed companies, which reflects the shareholders’ wealth, has fallen to Rs 308.73 lakh crore from Rs 323.82 lakh crore. SHUBHAM RAJ OCTOBER 25, 2023 / 03:55 PM IST moneycontrol news

A new trend, which is especially worrying for investors is that the broader market has also suffered along with headline indices, which had shown resilience in earlier sell-offs.

The market continued to reel under heavy selling on October 25 amid escalation of geopolitical crisis in the Middle East, surging bond yields in the US, and weaker-than-expected September quarter earnings of key corporates.

On October 25, the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 159.60 points or 0.83 percent to 19,122.15. BSE flagship Sensex plunged 0.81 percent or 522.82 points to 64,049.06.

A new trend, which is especially worrying for investors is that the broader market has also suffered along with the headline indices, which had shown resilience in earlier sell-offs. Nifty Smallcap and Nifty Midcap indices were down about a percent each on Wednesday.

"The uncertainties associated with the Israel-Hamas conflict will continue to weigh on markets in the near term. Positive news like decline in the US bond yields and weakening crude can help the market to revive but it may not sustain, given the uncertainty surrounding the West Asian conflict. Investors may opt for a cautious approach to the market till some clarity emerges on the geopolitical situation,” said VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

In the last five sessions, investor wealth has contracted by Rs 15 lakh crore as the market cap of all BSE-listed companies, which reflects the shareholders’ wealth, has fallen to Rs 308.73 lakh crore from Rs 323.82 lakh crore.

Let's take a look at the major factors driving the markets down.

Israel-Hamas war

The conflict in the Middle East is the biggest worry for investors right now as many geopolitical experts fear more parties may get involved, affecting a larger geography and population. The fact that many of these countries are oil producers, there's a major cause for concern for the global economy.

Any widening of the conflict will likely result in a further rise in crude oil prices which is hovering at $88 a barrel. This will make raw materials for a number of industries costlier, apart from an increase in cost of living.  And, all these in turn will have a severe impact on the economy which is already grappling with inflationary headwinds. The sell-off indicates that the wary investors are positioning themselves pre-empting such a scenario.

US bond yield

US bonds are considered some of the safest investments in the world. With rising yield on 10-year US bonds, which has surpassed 5 percent, analysts are expecting an outflow from emerging and riskier markets.

The reason behind that is simple. Foreign investors will likely prefer to invest in US bonds that guarantee 5 percent annual risk-free dollar returns than invest in Indian equities that are prone to geopolitical risks and currency risks, which will diminish their dollar returns.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have already taken away some Rs 10,345 crore so far this month from Indian equities after a net withdrawal of Rs 14,768 crore in September.

Equity valuations

Indian equities, along with the US, are some of the most expensive stocks in the world. This makes the domestic market susceptible to sudden corrections. The froth is more visible in the broader market, which has led to relatively heavier selling in small and midcap space.

“Since the valuations in midcap and smallcap space are higher than that of largecaps, this weakness is likely to persist. Safety is now in largecaps particularly in banking majors which are fairly valued," Vijayakumar said.

Q2 earnings

The second-quarter earnings of India Inc have been a mixed bag with some surprises and quite a few misses. The lacklustre show by some key companies have dampened the overall mood in the market. For instance, banks are dealing with contraction of margins. Most major IT companies are also dealing with slowdown.

Global markets

Sentiment on Dalal Street have also been affected by weakness in global markets. All European markets opened lower on October 25. Asian indices, however, closed mixed. Singapore and South Korea closed in the red while others saw some recovery.

Adani auditor EY faces inquiry by India’s accounting regulator Read more at: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/company

One of the Adani Group’s longtime auditors is being scrutinized by India’s accounting regulator, according to people familiar with the matter.

The National Financial Reporting Authority, or NFRA, has in recent weeks started an inquiry into one of the member firms of EY in India, S.R. Batliboi, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing confidential information. The regulator has requested files and communications related to its audits on some of the companies controlled by billionaire Gautam Adani going as far back as 2014, the people said.

It’s unclear how long NFRA’s inquiry may take or what repercussions, if any, may be faced by the auditor and Adani’s companies. Representatives for NFRA and the Adani Group didn’t respond to an emailed request for comments. A representative for EY and S.R. Batliboi declined to comment.

The scrutiny of S.R. Batliboi — statutory auditor of five listed Adani companies that produce about half of the group’s revenues — underscores the lingering questions around accounting and disclosures by the sprawling conglomerate that faced a brutal short seller attack in January. Adani Group, which has forcefully denied Hindenburg’s allegations of corporate malfeasance, is also under a court-mandated probe by India’s markets regulator.

Besides being the current auditors for Adani Power Ltd., Adani Green Energy Ltd., the consumer goods firm Adani Wilmar Ltd. and the two cement makers the tycoon acquired from Holcim Ltd. last year, S.R. Batliboi also signed off on the books of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd., the conglomerate’s crown jewel, for a decade leading to 2017.

Indian law prohibits foreign accounting firms from registering as auditors in the country. That’s why Big Four firms including EY operate through independently run affiliates.

Hindenburg raised questions over Adani’s accounting and audits in a January report that erased more than $150 billion in market value at one point from the conglomerate’s listed companies. The group said in a Jan. 29 rebuttal that its firms are audited by “duly certified and qualified” professionals.

But months later, changes followed. Adani Total Gas Ltd. on May 2 announced the appointment of Walker Chandiok & Co LLP as its new statutory auditor. It replaced Shah Dhandharia & Co., a longtime auditor of several Adani companies, which Hindenburg had said was simply too small to handle such big assignments. Shah Dhandharia said it resigned because of “pre-occupation"

Shied Away

Later that month, Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP raised concerns over insufficient disclosures around Adani Ports’s transactions with some entities, before resigning in August.

Some auditors, wary of the conglomerate’s aggressive and debt-fueled expansion, have in recent years shied from taking on the group’s companies as clients, Bloomberg News reported in June.

S.R. Batliboi’s longest-running current Adani Group assignment is with Adani Power, where it has flagged several accounting matters, particularly over the valuation of a massive loss-making plant, for five years starting 2018. Each year, while the company acknowledged the auditor’s concerns, it went ahead with its own valuation of the plant. Such a long-running disagreement is unusual, Bloomberg News reported in March.

NFRA, which was formed in 2018 to oversee India’s auditors, has emerged as an aggressive enforcer of both laws and professional standards governing the accounting industry. The agency can issue fines, and debar both audit firms and individual auditors for as long as a decade. Over the past five years, it has debarred more than 40 people.

S.R. Batliboi previously brushed with NFRA in the wake of an accounting scandal at Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd., an infrastructure developer, in 2018.

Last year, the regulator said that S.R. Batliboi, which had audited the books of IL&FS, had failed to comply with basic audit requirements, and been unqualified for that role because EY simultaneously had provided non-audit services to the company.

Traders cut lentil imports from Canada amid diplomatic row Read more at: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com

As the diplomatic row between New Delhi and Ottawa escalates, no new contracts are being signed for import of lentils from Canada as importers are wary of likely retaliatory tariffs that either of the countries could impose, industry insiders said.

Canada was the biggest supplier of lentils to India in 2022-23, accounting for more than half of total imports of the legume into the country with shipments of 485,492 metric tonnes."There have been no new contracts...for import of lentils due to the heightened diplomatic tension," a senior executive of a large import-export firm said on condition of anonymity.

However, whatever contracts signed before the conflict began are being honoured, traders said.A drop in supply of lentils could inflate its domestic prices at a time when the country is already facing high inflation in pulses which was at 13% last month, the highest in all food categories followed by cereals.

The row between the two countries started after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last month alleged that Indian agents are suspected to be involved in the assassination of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil in June. India's foreign ministry called the allegations "absurd".

Canada has withdrawn 41 diplomats from India amid the dispute after New Delhi asked Ottawa to reduce its diplomatic presence. Ottawa also expelled an Indian diplomat over the affair.

Until now, neither of the countries have imposed any tariffs to discourage trade.

However, India has diversified its lentils imports to other nations with Australia turning out to be the biggest gainer. Additionally, it has fully exempted lentils imported from the US from any sort of customs duty recently. Russia, Singapore, Turkey, and the UAE are other import destinations for lentils.

India consumes around 2.3 million tonnes of lentils, against the annual production of around 1.6 million tonnes.

FTA likely on track as UK warms to investment pact :-The Economic Times Oct 25,2023

New Delhi: India and the United Kingdom are trying to find a middle ground to conclude a bilateral investment treaty along with a free trade agreement (FTA) by the end of this month, said people with knowledge of the matter.

The prospects of a deal have brightened with the UK softening its stance on India's proposal that investors exhaust all local remedies before opting for international arbitration, they said, even as UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's visit to India to ink the pact remains uncertain.

The UK had been insisting on "pre-establishment national treatment" while raising concerns about the time-consuming legal processes to resolve disputes related to investments in India.

The UK wanted to keep the investment pact out of the trade deal."The UK has had issues with the long time it takes to exhaust local remedies for dispute resolution but is now showing flexibility," said a government official, who did not wish to be identified.

The bilateral investment treaty (BIT) has been seen as one of the sticky points in the ongoing FTA negotiations between the two sides.

A separately revised investment treaty for the UK could set the stage for revision of similar pacts with other countries in future, according to people in the know.

India considers an investment treaty with the UK crucial as the latter is among the top investors in the country. In 2022-23, India received $1.74 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) from the UK, up from $1.65 billion in the previous financial year. Between April 2000 and March 2023, FDI inflows from the UK amounted to $34.3 billion.

Under the rule of exhaustion of local remedies in India's model BIT, a claim must first be submitted before a relevant domestic court or administrative body. The idea is to prevent arbitrators from having expanded jurisdiction.

Pre-establishment national treatment allows foreign investors to drag the government to arbitration overseas even before an investment is made.

Arbitration cases
After witnessing an increase in arbitration cases, India had amended the model BIT in December 2015, making it mandatory for foreign investors to exhaust local judicial remedies before seeking arbitration.

India has lost multiple arbitration disputes, such as those with Cairn Energy PLC, Vodafone Group BV and Devas Mauritius Ltd, which were initiated invoking the pre-2015 BIT provisions. It is, therefore, now cautious in its approach to BIT, said experts.

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, 11 investor-state dispute settlement cases were filed against India between 2000 and 2020.

THE EUROPEAN UNION REWARDS TERRORISM

by Robert Williams • October 24, 2023 at 5:00 am

Israel had not even buried its dead from the horrifying jihadist pogrom that Hamas terrorists unleashed on Israeli civilians in south Israel -- beheading babies, burning them alive, torturing, raping, kidnapping, murdering -- before the European Union decided to reward the terrorists by tripling its assistance to Gaza. "The Commission will immediately increase the current humanitarian aid envelope foreseen for Gaza by 50 million euros," European Commission President Ursula van der Leyen said. "This will bring the total to over 75 million euros. We will continue our close cooperation with the UN and its agencies to ensure that this aid reaches those in need in the Gaza strip." Oh really? How? The terrorist group Hamas, a proxy of Iran, the "worst state sponsor of terrorism," is wholly in control of Gaza and will take what shows up and dribble it out slowly to a chosen few, mainly in their military. The idea that any of it will reach the million displaced souls who were urged by the Israelis to flee to southern Gaza to save their lives is charming, but woefully starry-eyed. Food and water -- if that is really what is in the uninspected trucks, rather than weapons -- will go to the Hamas foot soldiers to make sure they stay fit and loyal. "Hamas are trying to prevent people leaving northern Gaza. And that is the point... Of course we want to minimize Palestinian casualties. We want to minimize Israeli casualties. We want everybody to respect civilians. But the real clear distinction is Israel are trying to get civilians out of danger; Hamas are trying to put civilians into danger, and that is a fundamental difference between the two." — UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, October 15, 2023. Sadly, massive injustices were done by the international media which, without checking, wrongly blamed Israel for firing at a hospital in Gaza, supposedly killing hundreds. Video evidence and a voice recording revealed that the real cause of the explosion at the hospital was a rocket, launched toward Israel by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, that landed in the hospital parking lot. The media, it seems, could not wait to stick it to the Jews. A JEWISH BOYCOTT-A MUST READ BY ALL

 A Jewish Boycott

A short time ago, Iran's Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the Muslim World to boycott anything  and everything that originates with the Jewish people.

In response, Meyer M. Treinkman, a pharmacist, out of the kindness of his heart, offered to assist them in their boycott as follows:

"Any Muslim who has Syphilis must not be cured by Salvarsan discovered by a Jew, Dr. Ehrlich. He should not even try to find out whether he has Syphilis, because the Wasserman Test is the discovery of a Jew. If a Muslim suspects that he has Gonorrhea, he must not seek diagnosis, because he will be using the method of a Jew named Neissner.

"A Muslim who has heart disease must not use Digitalis, a discovery by a Jew, Ludwig Traube.

Should he suffer with a toothache, he must not use Novocaine, a discovery of the Jews, Widal and Weil.

If a Muslim has Diabetes, he must not use Insulin, the result of research by Minkowsky, a Jew. If one has a headache, he must shun Pyramidon and Antypyrin, due to the Jews, Spiro and Ellege.

Muslims with convulsions must put up with them because it was a Jew, Oscar Leibreich, who proposed the use of Chloral Hydrate.

Arabs must do likewise with their psychic ailments because Freud, father of psychoanalysis, was a Jew.

Should a Muslim child get Diphtheria, he must refrain from the “Schick" reaction which was invented by the Jew, Bella Schick.

"Muslims should be ready to die in great numbers and must not permit treatment of ear and brain damage, work of Jewish Nobel Prize winner, Robert Baram.

They should continue to die or remain crippled by Infantile Paralysis because the discoverer of the anti-polio vaccine is a Jew, Jonas Salk.

"Muslims must refuse to use Streptomycin and continue to die of Tuberculosis because a Jew, Zalman Waxman, invented the wonder drug against this killing disease.

Muslim doctors must discard all discoveries and improvements by dermatologist Judas Sehn Benedict, or the lung specialist, Frawnkel, and of many other world renowned Jewish scientists and medical experts.

"In short, good and loyal Muslims properly and fittingly should remain afflicted with Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Heart Disease, Headaches, Typhus, Diabetes, Mental Disorders, Polio Convulsions and Tuberculosis and be proud to obey the Islamic boycott."

Oh, and by the way, don't call for a doctor on your cell phone because the cell phone was invented in Israel by a Jewish engineer.

Meanwhile I ask, what medical contributions to the world have the Muslims made?"

The Global Islamic population is approximately 1,200,000,000; that is ONE BILLION TWO HUNDRED MILLION or 20% of the world's population.

The Jews are NOT promoting brainwashing children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non-Muslims.

The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow themselves up in German restaurants.

There is NOT one single Jew who has destroyed a church.

There is NOT a single Jew who protests by killing people. The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

Muslims must ask 'what can they do for humankind' before they demand that humankind respects them.

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel 's part, the following two sentences really say it all:

'If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel."

Benjamin Netanyahu: General Eisenhower warned us. It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect: 'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'

Recently, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population whichclaims it never occurred.

It is not removed as yet . However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 65 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

Now, more than ever, with Iran, among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 400 million people. Perhaps you'll be a  link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world - or not....

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center 'NEVER HAPPENED' because it offends some Muslim in the United States?

Scammers are taking advantage of loopholes in the Aadhaar-enabled Payment System (AePS) to empty your bank account completely. The fraud does not require SMS or OTP authentication, which is much more concerning. According to the reports, the Indian market has apparently seen an increase in a new type of scam employing Aadhaar cards.

The Bengaluru Police commissioner warned about this new scam on social media X ( previously known as Twitter) and asked individuals to lock Aadhaar biometrics to avoid any fraud. The post also said to use locking feature in Aadhaar to prevent misuse of Aadhaar biometric. Lock your biometrics on the official UIDAI website/App of Aadhaar.
