When the news came that Reliance Jio reportedly planning to launch its own cryptocurrency called Jio Coin, the entire country supported the idea. But this morning we woke up to an alleged fake news on a fake website which stated that the Jio Coin will have a launch price of Rs.100 per coin.
This fake website came with URL reliance-jiocoin.com – has also been named to make it look like a sister organisation of RILBSE. It has also showed the brand icon of RIL on the page – the parent organisation of Jio.Not does this website provided misleading information that the Jio Coin will have a launch price of Rs 100 per coin. It also asked people to register with their details like full name and email address. However, as soon as we started writing this article to inform our subscribers to beware of this fake website, the website was not opening.
According to a report which came a couple of days back, Reliance Jio Infocomm is drawing up plans to create its own cryptocurrency, Jio Coin under the ownership of Akash Ambani. A 50-member team of young experts will be working on blockchain technology, which will led by Mukesh Ambani’s elder son Akash.
The report stated that Ambani’s plan to tap into blockchain technology for smart contracts was still in the “proposal stage” and no further developments have been reported on this. It is our appeal to all of you to beware about such fake news.
