A man avenging his expulsion from job drained out 1.1 lakh litres of whiskey and spirit from a distillery located in Phase 1, Industrial Area, Chandigarh, on Monday. The police on the complaint of an employee of Batra Beverages and Distilleries arrested 20-year-old Munna who was the former employee of the company.
As per the police, first reported in Hindustan Times, Munna scaled the wall of the distillery at around 11 pm and opened the valves of the tanks which stored liquor. He allegedly unscrewed five to six liquor tanks on the night of January 27 resulting in over a lakh of liquor being drained out. Each tank had a capacity of over 40,000 litres, though they were not completely filled. The company supplies liquor to Delhi.
As per the records, Munna had been working with the company till Diwali before being thrown out of the job. He approached the management repeatedly to re-employ him at the distillery, however, they refused.
This filled him with a grudge towards the company and he kept nurturing it even though he had found another job in a nearby factory after the incident. Finally, Munna who know the ins and outs of the distillery managed to sneak inside and drained the tanks. However, his act was captured in the CCTV camera.Talking to the Police, Munna said that he wanted the owners of the company to suffer. “I drained out the liquor as they took my job. Despite requesting them so many times they did not take me back,” he reportedly said.“I wanted them to suffer the loss, like I did being out of the job. Seeing the liquor go down the drain gave me satisfaction,” he added.
A case of mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards (section 427) and trespassing in order to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment (section 457) has been registered against the accused.
