In a spectacular display of daredevilry, 58 men of the Indian Army set a world record on November 19 by riding a single motorcycle at the IAF base in Yelahanka, Bengaluru.

The 58-member motorcycle team of the Army Service Corps (ASC) christened 'Tornadoes' set another world record by riding a 500cc Royal Enfield motorbike for 1,200 metres at the Yelahanka Air Force Station, read a a Defence Ministry statement.

Balancing act
Dressed in a Tricolour apparel, team driver Subedar Rampal Yadav steered the sturdy bike, with its leader Major Bunny Sharma on the vanguard while other members stood behind and around on the flanks attached to the two-wheeler.

The team prepared for the stunt by consuming only biscuits and 100 ml of water in order to keep their body weights suit the bike and its custom-made frame.

They even failed twice
Members of the Tornadoes motorcycle display team of the Army Service Corps (ASC) suffer a fall during an attempt to break the record. It was in the third attempt the team successfully created the record. The team achieved the feat by riding a distance in excess of a kilometre.

The Tornadoes team debuted at the 9th Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982.
Formed 35 years ago under the aegis of then Colonel C.N. Rao and Captain J.P Verma, the display team became world famous with its devilry and record-breaking feats.
