Why is the Indian media against the Modi government?

The Indian media has been a beneficiary of a lot of favours, perks and patronage from non BJP governments, most of which have been taken away or are being taken away as I write this. The following articles give some insight as to why this happened and what was the result:
These are the famous faces of Presstitutes of Indian Media Including actors of Bollywood who are always Anti Modi and they earn a lot by doing so.

March 9, 2016 - ET article mentions that the government (NDA) has asked 746 journalists to vacate government owned residences. Narendra Modi government evicts record number of illegal occupants from Lutyens Delhi
Minhaz Merchant gives his views on the same in his article last year. Why India no longer trusts anti-Modi media
Karan Thapar, Jains of TOI, Bhartia of HT, Prannoy Roy (and his family) of NDTV, etc. are all either related to Congress MPs, are Congress MPs or have received business favours from the Congress or affiliates in some form over the last 60 odd years. The Quora article Media of India: Which TV news channel is biased to which political party? has some truths although more information needs to be shared.
If you observe closely, the Huffington Post, Economist, Telegraph, Guardian, Washington Post and at times the Hindu also publish articles which seem to talk about social evils, religion and one wonders as to what kind of correspondence exists for them in India. A lot of journalists are also very open about it like Vinod Mehta, Mitali Saran, Shekhar Gupta, Barkha Dutt, Nidhi Razdan, Prannoy Roy, Thapar, etc.
That being said, BJP does have some channels that favour them. Zee, Jagran Prakashan, India TV and probably a few others. The readership of Quora probably is a viewer of the former group of channels and hence the seen bias.
The common ways the media seems to be maligning Modi (or anyone they want to get after) is:
  1. Mixing up numbers typically by inflating them or deflating them to make it more 'sensational'.
  2. Adding certain words that paint a different picture.
  3. Giving spins on certain pieces of news. Such as making a murder sound like a gender, religious or political issue when it might just be personal animosity.
  4. Giving spaces to people are not really relevant so as to make them seem otherwise.
  5. Bringing up controversial issues alongside news. Hence, it is not uncommon to see Modi being mentioned as a good leader but with a byline stating that he was controversially involved with the Godhra Riots.
  6. Debates, Judge/Jury/Executioner, Grilling tactics. The Anchor tends to thrust his/her view and hence instead becomes a shouting match, defeating the first rule of winning a debate.
  7. Dubious sources are being masqueraded as informed, inside, known, etc. sources.
  8. Visually painting a different picture by hiding cues or showing things that are not relevant. Musical enhancements are also added.
