WION referred to the covid 19 virus as “the Chinese virus”. I heard their very able journalist Palki Sharma explain why the channel said so. It's a logical explanation and anyone will be convinced by it.
China has the full right to muzzle its media, being the “proletariat” dictatorship that it is. The Chinese foreign ministry “requested” its Indian counterpart to refrain from prefixing the word “Chinese” for the virus. Whereas the government complied (as also the left-leaning news channels like NDTV), some like WION did not. Hence the fury of Chinese directed at this channel.
China is completely wrong in thinking that it can flex its muscles in every field just because of its economic and military might. It may not have spread the virus intentionally but it is certainly guilty of not heeding to a doctor's warning and being transparent about it, a move that could have saved thousands of lives.
I watch all English language news channels in India on tv. In my opinion the best is WION. It gives unbiased, balanced views on everyday international news analysis. I find their live news reporting, believe it or not, better than CNN and the BBC. The Chinese CGTN English news channel is just a propaganda organ of the CCP(Chinese Communist Party).
