Not only Haryana, but Maharashtra too has
shown the mirror to BJP. A party which has lost 3 of its most public leaders in
this year, has one of the most liked ones sitting out of the cabinet, and is
banking on just its leading duo to win them every election should now realize
that things won’t work this way. And they shouldn’t.
EDIT: Seems like I was woefully misinformed
about the groundwork done by ML Khattar in Haryana as a lot of the comments
have pointed out. I am leaving the original text as is
but I stand by the fact that Khattar has actually said some really troublesome
things about women which for a state like Haryana is even more dangerous.
[Khattar
is as crooked, incompetent, and stupid as they come. And the only reason he
became the CM was his party alliance. In the last 5 years, he has done close to
nothing for a state that actually needs a lot to be done.]
Instead, he has chosen to comment on how women
can prevent rapes (by not “roaming around half-naked”) and that with the
abrogation of article 370, they will now “bring in Kashmiri girls”. Meanwhile,
the state continues to languish in terms of economic development. But crime
against women continue to rise[(no wonder considering the
remarks of the person supposed to be leading by example).
Maharashtra on the other hand is a bit of a
bummer. Fadnavis has done good work in the last 5 years. But overall, this is
again a welcome move by the public. Mumbai, India’s financial center, is
crumbling under the weight of the immense population. Efforts to
develop more economical centers in Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, etc have not come to
fruition. Connectivity in Mumbai continues to be an issue.
Overall, this should be a time for BJP to introspect.
They might have won a thumping majority less than half a year ago in the
national elections based on nationalistic sentiments, but on the ground level,
people will still vote based on local issues.
The first 6 months of NDA2 have been a total debacle
with economic growth stalling, rising unemployment, lack of any visible
progress on infrastructure projects like Smart cities and metros, and a
complete absence of any key strategic announcements by the government.
If they do not sufficiently address these key
issues in the next few months, they are sure to lose all goodwill earned till
date. Keep up the current state of affairs, and 2024 is a gone case.
