According to Ookla, this makes Vi the only telco delivering fastest speed consistently over a six month period on a pan-India basis.
This result comes at a time when the main battle for customers is being played out between the three private telcos on 4G networks. The faster speed will also ensure high tariff customers, specially post paid ones remain on Vi.
"Such external validation for our voice and data services, is a strong testimony of our efforts to strengthen network experience for our customers, who are now more reliant on telecom connectivity for their work, education and all other aspects of life," said Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea. "I am confident that our robust network built on many principles of 5G architecture, and service offerings designed for the new age Digital Indians, will enable people and businesses to stay ahead and thrive," he added.
According to the statement from the telo, GIGAnet from Vi has been verified as the fastest 4G network for average download speeds in 16 Indian states - Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Nagaland.
Vi has also topped the speed charts for average download speeds in 142 cities as well as the metros.
