Rhythm Mamania is the youngest mountaineer to achieve this feat.
Climbing Mount Everest is often a part of people's bucket list, but not many get a chance to check it off the list.
However, a 10-year-old from Mumbai has managed to accomplish this feat. Rhythm Mamania, a Worli resident, became the youngest mountaineer to climb the Mount Everest base camp earlier this month.
The young skater took 11 days to complete the trek and reach the base camp which is situated at 5,364 metres. She was accompanied by her parents - Urmi and Harshal Mamania.
During the base camp trek, Miss Mamania scaled several steep terrain for 8-9 hours in varying climatic conditions. Hailstones, snowfall and temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius didn't deter her.
During a special interaction with PTI, Mamania Jr had some wise words of wisdom to share. "Whether it is a skating ring or base camp summit, it's the determination that gets you a long way," she was quoted as saying.
The young girl's love for scaling mountains goes a long way. She started her journey as a mountaineer when she was just five years of age. Her first trek was to Dudhsagar which was 21-kilometre-long. Dudhsagar Falls is situated in Goa, 60 kilometres from Panaji on the Mandovi River. Since then, she has climbed a few peaks in the Sahyadri ranges like Mahuli, Sondai, Karnala and Lohagad.
She told Mirror Now that her previous experience helped her achieve this feat. To train herself, she said that artistic skating has helped her stay fit. She credits her mother for overcoming the fear and keeping her motivated.
According to PTI, 'Satori Adventures', a Nepal-based company, took the Mamania family to the base camp along with a group of Kutch trekkers.
