WHY SOUTH KOREANS LOOK DOWN PEOPLE FROM SOUTH EAST ASIA AND SOUTH ASIA (INDIA BANGLADESH AND PAKISTAN) REPLIED BY SOME UNKNOWN PERSON ON REDITT

The thing with Korea is that it became rich just about 25 years ago. It was the last country to escape the middle income trap to become a developed country. People have new money, hence they indulge themselves in superficial things like branded clothings ( S.korea is the biggest consumer of luxury goods ), looks, make up, plastic surgery all for status symbol. Just like any other person with new money always strives for a Rolex, BMW etc.

And people with new money often look down on poors. South Koreans look down on people from south east Asia, and south Asia ( India, Bangladesh, Pakistan ) because of this, as these regions have a reputation for being poor and backward in mainstream media.

Talking about East Asia , South Koreans have a mixed opinion on Chinese people , some hate them , some want good relations with China. Then on Japan, South Koreans have both inferiority complex and hatred towards Japanese people. Like if you talk with a Korean they will always point out how Korea is better than Japan and how Dokdo belongs to them. And I think their hatred towards Japan is justified due to history but they should remember they benefitted from technology transfer from Japan like ship building, semiconductor IPs, Car manufacturing ( Hyundai got engines from Mitsubishi ) and billions of dollars of investment from Japanese firms. And they still import many times more Japanese products than they export back to Japan

They have very positive attitude towards USA cuz they saved South Korea in the Korean war, and also due to billions of dollars of investment from American firms.

South Koreans love European luxury, that implies they must love Europe too. I think they are apathetic to latin Americans ( except in the topic of football which has a decent following in Korea )

Their opinions on Africa and middle east is same as the opinions of majority of Indians.

The thing is Koreans, Indians, English all have same attitude towards outsiders. This arises due to Tribalism, Humans are naturally afraid of unfamiliar things. If you think western countries are any different you are wrong, up until 50 years ago there were human zoos in western countries like USA, EUROPE where they would bring people, families from south east Asia like Philippines and put them in zoos for people to ogle at them. Just like you watch animals in zoo. There even was a study of Eugenics where they would classify which race of humans are more superior to others.

Western countries changed cause they got their fair share of exposure to many cultures and people due to colonialisation, slavery ( how did you think black people end up in USA, Europe ) etc. And ww2 happened due to racial supremacism that was popular all over Europe but only Nazis and imperial Japanese took it to next level. Eventually western people somewhat got used to people of color, but that's not the case with South Korea, it used to be called Hermit kingdom. South Korea has no exposure with other cultures and people outside of East Asia in history. Therefore the phenomenon of Tribalism is prevalent there. People are generally afraid of unfamiliar people coming from foreign countries with foreign culture, norms and ideology.

Hopefully South Korea will get used to the new money, fame and foreigners that visit it each year. And people there will get their exposure to foreign cultures, that will make them become a little more accommodating and a little less racist....

Tldr: They aren't inherently racist, it's just Tribalism, it's natural to get afraid of so many foreigners suddenly coming into the country, foreigners who are from unfamiliar cultures. Foreigners who are portrayed as backward and evil in mainstream news channels
