A bowler takes three wickets in three different overs and it was a hat trick. How did this happen?

Merv Hughes.png
Yes, it is possible and it was done by Merv Hughes against West Indies. He dismissed Greendige of the last ball of his over. And when he trapped LBW Patrick Patterson of his first ball of his next over, the innings of West Indies came to an end. After the innings of Australia and when West Indies came to bat for the second time, he dismissed Ambrose of his first delivery. Three consecutive wickets but a huge interval in between. Indeed a rare incident in the history of cricket.
At Perth, in 1988–89, Hughes completed a hat-trick spread across three separate overs, two innings, and two different days. He had Curtly Ambrose caught behind with the last ball of his 36th over; ended West Indies' first innings in his 37th, by removing Patrick Patterson; and more than a day later, completed his hat-trick by trapping Gordon Greenidge lbw with the first ball of West Indies' second innings.[3]

200 dead in tunnel accident at North Korean nuclear test site

AFPUpdated: Oct 31, 2017, 05.34 PM IST
More than 200 people are feared to have died when a tunnel caved in at North Korea's nuclear test site after its latest detonation, a Japanese news report said Tuesday.
The blast caused a 6.3-magnitude earthquake, according to the US Geological Survey, followed a few minutes later by another with a magnitude of 4.1.

A tunnel collapsed at Punggye-ri in early September, days after North Korea conducted its sixth and largest underground nuclear test on September 3, TV Asahi said, quoting unnamed North Korean sources.

Some 100 workers were involved in an initial collapse. Another cave-in occurred during rescue operations  leaving at least 200 people feared dead in total, the Japanese broadcaster said.

The accident was triggered by the test, TV Asahi added.

Experts have warned that the underground tests could cause the mountain to collapse and leak radiation into the atmosphere near China's border.

Deadline for July GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 filing extended by a month

The finance ministry on Monday extended the deadline for filing GSTR-2 for July to 30 November and for GSTR-3 to 11 December

New Delhi: The government on Monday extended the deadline by a month for filing of July GSTR-2 to 30 November 30 and GSTR-3 to 11 December. The original due date for filing GSTR-2 was 31 October, while the last date for filing of GSTR-3, which is a matching form of GSTR-1 and 2, was 11 November.
GSTR-2, or purchase returns, have to be matched with GSTR-1 which is the sales return.
The last date for filing of GSTR-1 for July was 1 October. Over 46.54 lakh businesses had filed July GSTR-1 returns.
The extension will facilitate about 3.081 million taxpayers for filing GSTR-2 for the month of July 2017, the finance ministry said in a statement. “The competent authority has approved the extension of filing of GSTR-2 for July, 2017 to November, 2017, for facilitation of businesses and all taxpayers,” it said.
Businesses have been complaining of problems in matching invoices, while filing GSTR-2 on the GSTN portal. This is the first month of filing GSTR-2. The extension of last date for filing will act as a breather for them as well as GSTN which can further streamline the utilities on the portal.
The group of ministers under Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi had last week flagged issues faced by taxpayers in filing GSTR-2 and asked Infosys and GST Network to streamline the system. Till Saturday, about 1.2 million businesses had filed GSTR-2 returns for the month of July.

Baby step: Men are bringing their babies to work By Namrata Singh, TNN|Updated: Oct 30, 2017, 07.02 AM IST

Two years ago, when Sharon Thomas became a father and was planning to move from Bengaluru to Mumbai for a better job, his main criteria was that the company should have a crèche facility. Since Thomas and his wife don’t have family living with them, they decided that one of them should land a job in a company with daycare. Thomas’ wife joined a software firm in Mumbai, and Thomas, an MBA and B Tech, opted for a leadership role at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), which had a daycare facility within the office building. Thomas has been using J&J’s crèche facility ever since he joined the company in September 2016.

“So far it has worked beautifully. I can go down to the crèche and check on her whenever it’s required. Initially, my mother-in-law had to come with us for about 10 days to ensure our daughter adjusted to the teachers. She settled in after about a month,” said Thomas, 35, HR leader for pharma business at J&J India.

Although daycare centres provided by organisations are primarily meant for women employees, a growing number of male employees are using these facilities too. The trend has emerged with men shouldering more household responsibilities in dual-income urban households.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is a single parent, has even opened a crèche inside his Dharma Productions office in Mumbai so that he can spend more time with his twins Yash and Roohi. All Dharma employees – male and female – can use the crèche.

Not everyone has that luxury but they do rely on company facilities. According to a survey by ProEves, which provides childcare, maternity and parental support solutions to companies, 70% of organisations provide in-house crèche facilities or access to a crèche to both male and female employees. The survey covered 70 companies.

Ketika Kapoor, co-founder, ProEves, said, “From our conversations with companies on their daycare strategy, we have observed that there is equal usage by women and men employees of on-site daycare. This is in the right direction towards equal parenting responsibilities.”

Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) have extended these facilities to male employees. Indrajeet Sengupta, HR head, J&J, said, “We have a crèche in our office building and it’s almost full. While the largest number of users is women, we see a growing interest among male employees wanting to use the facility.”

An HUL spokesperson said the company had seen a rise in the utilisation of crèche facilities by male employees over the last four years. “We encourage policies that support work-life balance like agile working and flexibility,” the spokesperson said.

The two in-house facilities at Asian Paints are used by both male and female employees. Emrana Sheikh, VP (HR), Asian Paints, said, “With the rise in nuclear families, it has become more important for organisations to provide a support ecosystem that caters to the needs of working parents.”

J&J’s Sengupta said their focus was on building an inclusive workplace. “If men don’t participate in diversity and inclusion conversations, it won’t work,” he said. J&J recently announced two-month paternity leave support for fathers. In another ProEves survey, most fathers (out of 100 covered) said the appropriate paternity leave would be between two weeks and two months (a median of three weeks). “We are helping companies launch paternity support programmes to help them through this new phase,” said Kapoor.

5 Indian States With The Most Dangerous Women

Neil W. Sen

Crime is gender neutral. In a country like India where crimes against women are committed every second, and no woman is safe on the streets at night, it is likely that women will always be considered as victims. But reality is far from it. Last year’s crime report by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), points out to the fact that the number of women arrested for murder in Maharasthra alone was 579.  The state tops in the list of states with highest number of women arrested for crimes.
Indian States With The Most Dangerous Women

These Are The 5 Indian States With Highest Number Of Women Criminals

As per the NCRB report, in 2014 alone, around 1,94,867 women were arrested across India, for crimes ranging from murder, rape, kidnapping to dacoity and robbery, basically every crime that men commit. The top 5 states with the most number of women arrested in 2014 are:
1. Maharashtra Number of women arrested in 2014: 30,568  The state of Maharashtra, with its fast-growing economy and pacy lifestyle, had the highest number of women criminals in 2014.
2. Uttar Pradesh  Number of women arrested: 17,437 For a state that is infamous for its rowdy men, lack of law and order, and violent crimes, it’s no surprise that the women too resort to violent means.
3. Rajasthan  Number of women arrested: 16, 187 Surprisingly, the seemingly-peaceful state has the third highest number of crimes against women too.
4. Gujarat  Number of women arrested: 14,152 The state that has suffered much violence in the past – natural calamities, riots, et all. – is a surprise entry on the list.
5. West Bengal Number of women arrested: 12,181

Foreign investors pour $ 3 billion into Indian capital markets in October

Foreign investors pour $ 3 billion into Indian capital markets in October
Foreign investors have pumped in close to USD 3 billion in the Indian capital markets so far this month due to "high nominal and real yields" and stable macroeconomic conditions. Interestingly, most of the funds have been infused in the debt markets.According to the latest depository data, FPIs invested a net sum of Rs 2,806 crore in the stock markets and another Rs 15,132 crore in debt, taking the total to Rs 17,938 crore (USD 2.75 billion) during October 3-27. This follows a net outflow of over Rs 10,000 crore from the capital markets last month. Prior to that, they had pumped in Rs 1.78 lakh crore in the preceding six months (February- August)."Indian bonds remain attractive on high nominal and real yields as well with the backdrop of macroeconomic stability and hence it continues to attract FPIs," Quantum Advisors Head Fixed Income and Alternatives Arvind Chari said.
Another major reason could be due to increase in limits in Indian bonds by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) by Rs 14,200 crore for October-December 2017.FPIs, which had earlier exhausted their limits in Indian government securities and corporate bonds, tapped this opportunity and rushed to buy these securities. With regard to lower equity inflows, Chari said the same can be attributed to profit booking by FPIs amid high valuations."Indian equities, on the other hand, remain extremely overvalued even from a global emerging market perspective and hence witnessing lower inflows compared to bonds," he added.

New Delhi: The government on Thursday extended the deadline by a month till 30 November for businesses to claim credit of transitional stock in the goods and services tax (GST) regime.
“Form GST TRAN-1 (with revision facility) extended to 30 November 2017,” said a tweet by GST@GOI, the official twitter handle of the government for GST.
TRAN-1 is to be filed by those businesses that are keen to claim credit for taxes paid before the launch of GST on 1 July.
“The extension would aid in subsiding the anxiety among various industry players, caused on account of revision option of TRAN-1 not being available on the portal even 4 days prior to the due date,” EY India tax partner Abhishek Jain said.
The GST Council, in its 21st meeting in Hyderabad, had decided to extend the deadline for filing TRAN-1 form to 31 October, from September-end earlier. It also allowed businesses to revise the form once in the case of any discrepancy.
As much as Rs65,000 crore out of the nearly Rs95,000 crore tax collections in July—the first month of GST—have been claimed as transitional credit by taxpayers. Following this, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) had ordered a scrutiny of all such claims above Rs1 crore.

George HW Bush accused of sexual assault, apologises

Heather Lind said she decided to share her story after seeing George H.W. Bush, 93, appear onstage at a benefit concert to raise money for victims of the hurricane-ravaged southern US and Caribbean. File photo: AFP

Former US president George HW Bush has issued an apology to actress Heather Lind who accused him of groping her from his wheelchair while attending a screening four years ago

Washington: Former US President George H.W. Bush has issued an apology to an actress who accused him of groping her from his wheelchair while attending a screening, according to reports.
Heather Lind, 34, said the incident occurred four years ago at an event to promote the TV series “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” according to the Daily Mail, which saved a screenshot of a lengthy Instagram post she wrote and later deleted.
It is the latest in an outpouring of sexual harassment allegations against powerful male figures in entertainment, fashion and finance that followed the downfall of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who stands accused of assaulting and raping actresses.
Lind added she decided to share her story after seeing Bush Sr, 93, appear onstage at a benefit concert to raise money for victims of the hurricane-ravaged southern US and Caribbean.
“I found it disturbing because I recognize the respect ex-presidents are given for having served,” she wrote. “But when I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo.
“He didn’t shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke,” she added.
Later on, as pictures were being taken, Bush repeated the act, while “Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say ‘not again’.”
In a statement circulated to the Daily Mail and the New York Daily News, a spokesman for Bush did not deny the allegation but said it was an ill-judged attempt at humour.
“President Bush would never—under any circumstance—intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humour offended Ms. Lind,” the statement said.

WHY RUSSIANS ARE MASTERS OF CHESS????READ THIS STORY

Image result for PIC OF GARRY KASPAROV
After months of negotiation with the authorities, a Talmudist from Odessa was granted permission to visit Moscow. He boarded the train and found an empty seat.
At the next stop a young man got on and sat next to him. The scholar looked at the young man and thought: This fellow doesn't look like a peasant, and if he isn't a peasant he probably comes from this district.
If he comes from this district, then he must be Jewish because this is, after all, a Jewish district.
On the other hand, if he is a Jew, where could he be going? I'm the only Jew in our district who has permission to travel to Moscow.
Ahh? But just outside Moscow there is a little village called Samvet, and Jews don't need special permission to go there. But why would he be going to Samvet?
He's probably going to visit one of the Jewish families there, but how many Jewish families are there in Samvet? Only two - the Bernsteins and the Steinbergs. The Bernsteins are a terrible family, and a nice looking fellow like him must be visiting the Steinbergs. But why is he going?
The Steinbergs have only daughters, so maybe he's their son-in-law. But if he is, then which daughter did he marry? They say that Sarah married a nice lawyer from Budapest, and Esther married a businessman from Zhitomer, so it must be Sarah's husband. Which means that his name is Alexander Cohen, if I'm not mistaken. But if he comes from Budapest, with all the anti-Semitism they have there, he must have changed his name.
What's the Hungarian equivalent of Cohen? Kovacs. But if they allowed him to change his name, he must have some special status. What could it be? A doctorate from the University.
At this point the scholar turns to the young man and says, "How do you do, Dr. Kovacs?"
"Very well, thank you, sir." answered the startled passenger. But how is it that you know my name?"
"Oh," replied the Talmudist, "it was obvious."

RBI says linking Aadhaar number to bank accounts mandatory RBI says linkage of Aadhaar number to bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Saturday dismissed media reports that it was not necessary to link national identity card numbers, known as Aadhaar numbers, to bank accounts. It said in a statement the requirement remained in force under anti-money laundering rules.
“The Reserve Bank clarifies that, in applicable cases, linkage of Aadhaar number to bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017,” it said in a statement.
The RBI also said that anti-money laundering rules announced in June 2017 have “statutory force” and banks have to implement them without awaiting further instructions.
The Aadhaar programme, which is the world’s largest biometric identity card programme, has triggered some claims that it is an infringement of privacy of citizens.
India’s top court in August had said that privacy is a fundamental right and the verdict was expected to complicate efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to make linking of the ID card numbers with bank accounts, telephone numbers, etc. Reuters

DO NOT BE APOLOGETIC ABOUT DIWALI-ENJOY IT-WRITE UP BY AN INDIAN LIVING IN BANGALURU -SOME HARD FACTS

In my city of Bengaluru alone - 4 lakhs Animals are Killed on Eid which includes 10000 Large animals like Cattle and Camels
It generates 300 tonnes of animal waste which is just buried in pits near Kogilu on the city outskirts
For 14 lakh Muslims in Bengaluru - 4 lakh Animals killed

Even if one Animal weighs 10 kg then can an average person eat 3 kg meat on single day ?
And mind you this includes kids and infants also
So most of the meat goes waste though people might claim we give it to poor

If you conflate this number to whole of India then imagine the number of Animals killed on the single day ?
For 200 millon it must be at least 20 millon Animals
And 200 millon kgs of Meat and staggering 8 billon kgs of Green House gases or Carbon dioxide and we are not even calculating the lakhs of tonnes of bio waste generated

And now conflate this number to the whole world
It is 200 millon Animals 80 billon kgs of CO2

Now let us come to ThanksGiving in USA - 45 million Turkeys are killed
Christmas in US - 25 million Turkeys are killed
In US 30 million trees are chopped off every year to make Christmas Tree
Which is huge pollution
And 50 million artificial trees are used which is made of plastic and is even more polluting
On Independence Day July 4th USA uses 1 billion Worth of fire crackers which is 5 times more than what India uses in an whole year
Chinese use more times more firecrackers on Chinese New Year alone that what US does on July 4
World wide on New year billions Worth Fire crackers are used
Hindu festivals are the only Eco Friendly festivals on Earth
As most of Hindus eat only Vegetarian food on festivals
Other wise every other religion the meat is the most important item on a festival or any celebration

But when it comes to narrative it is only hindu festivals which are being maligned as polluting
Holi - Water Pollution so Waterless Holi
Ganesh - Sea or River Pollution So Green Ganesh
Dussehra - Riots/ sexual abuse so don’t go dandia or no Durga Idol immersion
Diwali - Air Pollution so no fire crackers
Have you seen any one raising topic of Pollution on Christmas New year or Eid ?
Has anyone campaigned for Veg Xmas or Green New Year or No killing on Eid ?
So don’t let breaking India forces take the fun out of Diwali
Let the festivals of lights
Hindu festivals are green by nature as Hindus worship nature and all tHe festivals are born out of nature worship
PS - The most comprehensive report on Delhi Pollution by IIT Kharagpur has not included Fire crackers in the report
Road Dust, Concrete batching, Vehicles, Coal tandoors, Crop burning, industries are responsible for Delhi air pollution
