NEW DELHI: India ranks on top when it comes to improving its broadband download speeds in 2017 while also grabbing the second spot in improving its mobile data speeds, according to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index 2017. The fixed broadband speeds have increased significantly with average speeds improving by 76.9%, surpassing China and Unites States in terms of improvement, Ookla, a broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic application, said.
The country's mobile data download speeds have also improved by 42.4% at 8.80 mbps, however it was surpassed by Pakistan which showed an improvement by over 56%. Overall, the world's internet speed has increased more than 30% in 2017 with a mean global speed of 20.28 Mbps, mobile downloads increased 30.1% over the last 12 months and mobile uploads increased 38.9%, the report highlighted.
