The Prayagraj Mahakumbh is being hailed as the world’s largest religious gathering. So far, 48.29 crore devotees have taken a holy dip at the sacred Sangam, and this number is expected to surpass 50 crore by Thursday. Following the Maghi Purnima bathing ritual, the festival is now set to witness a series of world record-breaking events. Starting February 14, attempts to create four new world records will begin. A team from the Guinness World Records has already arrived, and the fair administration is fully prepared for the event.

4 World Records to Be Set in 4 Days

From February 14 to 17, four unique records will be attempted at Mahakumbh:

  • February 1415,000 sanitation workers will clean a 10-kilometer stretch of the Sangam area.
  • February 15300 workers will carry out a large-scale cleaning operation in the river.
  • February 161,000 e-rickshaws will be deployed on Triveni Marg.
  • February 17: A record will be set for collecting 10,000 handprints from participants.
  • Records Were Also Set in 2019

During the 2019 Kumbh Melathree Guinness World Records were set:

    1. The largest transportation system, with over 500 shuttle buses operating at the event.
    2. The biggest cleanliness and waste management drive, involving 10,000 sanitation workers.
    3. The largest handprint collection, with 7,500 handprints recorded.

Mahakumbh to Conclude on February 26

The Mahakumbh 2025 will conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri, which will feature the last royal bathing ritual. With millions of devotees already attending, it is estimated that by the end of the event, an additional 6 to 7 crore pilgrims will visit Prayagraj.
