Why is everyone criticising Modi despite his hardwork? Good Answers by Balaji Vishwanathan and Gaurab Kar

Until 2014, Indians never had this much expectation from any leader. In the past, we were content if the leader didn’t screw up anything big. We had patience - even decades after the ruler started his rule, we didn’t ask many questions. Now, we are impatient - we want immediate results.
The bar is set so high that even a single death among 1,300,000,000 people from a passenger altercation on a crowded train can become a national issue. In the past administrations when major riots happened [scroll through the list: List of riots in India] we took those for granted. Now, our expectations are sky high.
We gladly spent decades under Nehru and Indira when the growth rate was barely 2–3% [at a time when the world was growing over 5%]. At a time when world is barely growing and even China is finding hard, we want the GDP to grow constantly over 7%. We want the cities to be really clean, the jobs created in large numbers against a massive tech shift & global slowdown, casteism eliminated etc all in a couple of years. In a way, it shows how much we care about change than anytime in the past.
The inflation is at a record low, economic growth is great, the fiscal deficit has been quite contained, hard reforms like GST and diesel regulation had passed, auctioning has become transparent, record creation of new roads and electricity infrastructure, railway budgets have become non-political, no major riots in 3 years, no corruption scandals, new gains on foreign affairs including enclave exchange with Bangladesh that waited for 5 decades, major move towards digital economy…
However, yeh dil mange more. We never had a leader before with whom we expected everything broken for centuries to be fixed in a mere 3 years. But, we do now and this increasing bar is a good thing. We don’t take the politics for granted and keep them on an edge.
As an example to the higher bars, think of our attitude towards Rahul Gandhi. 4 years ago, we didn’t bother much on the idea that he is next in line to become the PM. Now, many of us cannot even think of the idea. Same for Lalu, Mamata or many other leaders. Many people talk about TINA - There is No Alternative - only now because of the high bar set. 4 years ago we had the same leaders and no body talked about the issue of poor alternatives.

Power is a drug my friend and everybody wants it. Today, Modi is one of the most influential and powerful person. Now, there are many who wanted this and are unable to. So the best way to get a share of power, if not whole, is to overthrow the powerful person. Hence, criticize Modi.
Now there is a catch here. Most power-seeking people will normally want to favor or befriend the most powerful person. For example, most politicians will want to favor Sharad Pawar and enjoy the luxury of power. But that, leads to corruption. Everyone wants to enjoy the bribes and concessions which leads to a flawed system and no foreign capitalist would want to get into this muck of bribes and corruption. This is why we are still a developing nation and not a developed nation. Our road contractors, builders, etc all charge 50x money for what they produce.
Modi doesn’t allow this. He did this in Gujarat as well. During the earthquakes when Keshubhai Patel got into corruption, Modi was asked by Atal Bihari Vajpayee to work with Keshubhai to solve the problem. Modi denied working with anyone and wanted the total control without sharing power. What happened next is history. Even though I live in Mumbai for my job, I would always want to go back to Ahmedabad to live. It is such a nice city to live.
As you see, Modi never allows his power to be shared by anyone that would create a long chain of corrupt bureaucracy. This is the way he attracts foreign investments and manufacturing in Gujarat through Vibrant Gujarat program.
Of course, power seeking creepy politicians would never like to work with such an individual. So? overthrow him. Show the public how communal he is, show the public, his policies are flawed, show the public that he only enjoys travelling and does not stay back in India (He has traveled far lesser times than Manmohan Singh though and less than 1/3 of Obama or Putin).
One important question you may also ask is, why is Media against him. Well, earlier my perception was that media is a corrupt free organization that is questioning the Government and fighting for public. But when it happened to my father one day, I was shocked!
My father is a businessman. He once supplied a material to a government organization. They tampered the material and accused my father of providing a flawed consignment. My father proved that it was well inspected and approved prior dispatch and the government org lost the battle. What they did next, was to fix a media person after my dad. The media person asked for ransom of 50 lacs or she would write a column of a Gujarati Businessman cheating the government and damaging the modesty of a woman. THIS IS HOW MEDIA WORKS.
When Modi became the Prime Minister of India, the first thing he did was to bar media teams from Air India One (The designated Air India in which the Prime Minister is on board). These media people used to travel to their dream destinations with the PM at the cost of our hard-earned money. Modi stopped that corruption. There are many instances of NDTV where during Gujarat riots, Kargil and Mumbai Terror Attacks, they broke the code of conduct of public interest. And that is why you will find media always talking against him.
If Modi wins people’s heart he will stay in power till his death and he might also forbid the political power in the country, the carrot of the power hungry people. And so people want to criticize him, tarnish his image and overthrow him to enjoy the luxury of corruption and power.
