Israel News LIVE Updates: Israel is at war with Hamas after a barrage of rockets slammed into southern and central Israel on Saturday morning. Israeli national rescue service said that at least 40 killed in the wide-ranging Hamas incursion.
Ofir Liebstein, the mayor of the Israel town, and head of the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council, was killed in the deadly rocket fire from Hamas. Terror cells from the Gaza group have infiltrated a number of communities in the south of the country. Hamas has also claimed to have kidnapped five IDF soldiers. Mohammed Deif, the Hamas terror commander has called for an all-out attack on Israel. Hezbollah has praised the Hamas operation calling it a "message to Arab countries normalising with Israel". PM Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel "is at war".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep shock over the terrorist attacks in Israel on X. He said that India stands in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.
"Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," he said.
